Club Information

Established in the 1930s as the Artisans Sailing Club, the club has developed and expanded over the years. The Eastbourne Sovereign Club offers a spacious club room with impressive sea views, with great access and location. Patio doors lead to a private patio area overlooking Eastbourne seafront.

The club has races from March right through until December. Being sheltered by the South Downs and Beachy Head the club enjoys a micro-climate environment– hence Eastbourne’s nickname ‘The Sunshine Coast’!

Class series racing is held throughout the season. There are a variety of classes, including: RS Aero, Foiling Moth, Dart 16, RS400, RS Feva, Spitfire, Musto Skiff, RS Cat, Lasers, B14.

Racing can be viewed from the beach, depending on the race. Our courses are located on the water depending on the type of boat being utilised to accommodate a learning environment. The club provides a full sailing programme.

The club offers highly practical ‘hands on’ sessions, with a programme that includes sailing theory and a controlled capsize recovery.  All learner use a great mix of dinghies, beginning with sailing with an instructor and leading up to navigating on your own around a full sailing course.

For learners who sign up to the sailing academy, the package includes a year’s membership to the club, plus a training programme to gain RYA basic skills level.
