ESSC is a well establish sailing club dating back to 1921 and before with a strong family tradition, with a large member base of around 750 adult members and some 200 juniors. The majority of the members live in Emsworth or nearby. ESC provides storage space for around 100 dinghies in the summer and 40 cruisers in the winter.

The club aims to encourage amateur sailing and boating with novices of all ages learning to sail and members who have experience up to international sailing standard. Racing tends to be competitive but friendly for both dinghies and yachts.

The club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre, offering a wide range of courses on and off the water for its members all year round.

ESSC has an attractive clubhouse with social facilities. ESSC offers an active membership therefore members volunteer to help maintain and run the clubhouse. The club is very sociable and runs an active social programme
