Club Information

Hillhead Sailing Club prides itself on providing inspiration sailing in an open, relaxed environment where friends are made and long-lasting memories are realised.

Founded in 1930, The club offers a diverse range of club activities for all ages and abilities, all year round, ranging from small boats to big boats.

The clubhouse opened in 1975, and has been expanded and refurbished over the years. Today it offers an attractive bar and lounge on the first floor achieving great views of the Solent. The bar is operated by members four days a week whilst volunteers produce light lunches in the “galley” each weekend.

The teaching room is accessed from the lounge/kitchen area.  There are male/female changing rooms with showers and toilets easily accessible on the ground floor with a separate disabled toilet and lift. To provide secure storage, the club offers a recently added boat storage compound.

Generally, sailing takes place on weekends. This consists of a mix of club racing for novices to more experienced sailors.  There is the opportunity to take part in recreational sailing also. The club provides: dinghy recreational sailing, dinghy racing, cruiser social sailing, cruiser racing, kayaking, stand up paddle-boarding.

The club prides itself on its RYA Sailing Training Centre status, providing a range of development and training programmes for youth and adult sailing, as well as cadet programmes for all levels. 

The club provides an open and social environment learning from volunteer instructors and using the club boat dinghy fleet. The club strives on creating a safe environment that is fun and builds confidence.
