Lilliput Sailing Club

Lilliput Sailing Club

Club Information

Running for 64 years LSC is a  small, friendly, self-help club situated adjacent to the Blue Lagoon on the northern shore of Poole Harbour. Welcoming all members with any level of skill, the club offers active dinghy and cruiser fleets and a lively social programme.

The club offers moorings inside and outside the lagoon.

For boats up to 30ft in length, with restrictions on the boat’s draft. Most craft have swinging or bilge keels, which are in general more suited to Poole Harbour. All boats using these moorings lay either to the tide or the wind and access is by inflatable or rigid tender from the Lagoon slipway.

To be allocated a mooring, applications are accepted once joined to the club and reserved on a waiting list.

The club request that some members partake in mooring “Parties” at weekends in winter to provide maintenance of the moorings as well as period checks throughout summer.

Inside moorings – 46 moorings located inside Blue Lagoon. These are reached by tender from the club’s yard. At low tide the Lagoon moorings dry out. However, there are two high tides so ample time to access these moorings.

For yachts there is a hardstanding for around 90 yachts during the winter. There is a waiting list for the privileged few who are offered.

The club holds cruiser rallies whether you are a cruiser sailor dinghy sailor or crew member, it is however up to you to make friends with the right person and arrange passage with a cruiser. Alternatively you can meet us at our destination and enjoy the ensuing experiences ranging from bbq’s on a beach somewhere or a night in a tavern.

The primary objective of the club is dinghy sailing. The club can cater for up to 70 dinghys in its store during summer.

Sailing a dinghy with a deep draft through the lagoon. Pivoting centreboards and rudders are highly recommended.

The club also has a layout plan showing the dinghy yard  layout: Open in a new window

The club has quite a diverse fleet of dinghies from Toppers and Laser Picos to RS Visions and Wayfarers. With ages and conditions ranging from e-bay “bargains” to brand new. All are welcome.

During the Autumn and Winter, the dinghy park is used as hard standing by the Cruisers. So the dinghies must be removed from the club and stored elsewhere over this period. That is unless you are one of the hardy souls who have been invited to take part in the Autumn and Winter racing series.

The club organises handicap cruiser and dinghy racing throughout the sailing season.
