Club Information

The Club is situated within walking distance of Lymington town centre on the banks of the river estuary, adjacent to a Pay and Display car park and the outdoor public swimming pool with numerous other facilities nearby.

The clubhouse has a restaurant and bar on the first floor which enjoy stunning views overlooking the river estuary and the Solent. A very large terrace provides members the opportunity to watch the comings and goings in the harbour while enjoying the sunshine.

The Club has an enthusiastic and active dinghy section.  It offers racing, cruising, ladies afloat and family sessions.

The club races all the year round, four times a week during the Summer and hosts major open events.

The club provides wide variety of dinghies to race in with a choice of variety from classic to modern dinghies. Racing with the various boats is split into four handicap fleets using the Portsmouth Yardstick Handicap system, with Class racing within these fleets – and results extracted for the larger classes. This aims to provide the best possible racing by keeping boats with similar speed characteristics in the same fleet.

The most popular boats raced at the club are: the Merlin Rocket, the RS Aero, the National Solo and the Lymington River Scow.

Dinghy cruises take place once a month from spring to mid-autumn to various destinations in the, such as Keyhaven, Hurst Castle, Newtown Creek, Yarmouth.

Lymington Town Sailing Club welcomes families and children, there is a range of opportunities for families to get involved such as Sunday Family Sailing and Children at Salterns Sailing Club to name a couple.

This is designed to give a pathway for the complete beginner through to cruising and racing.  Families can learn together whilst also giving additional opportunities to their children.  The club prides itself on developing children who have achieved entry to regional and national squads whilst also participating in the more social atmosphere of club sailing.

LTSC is a RYA Training Centre offering dinghy sailing, powerboat and shore-based theory courses. The club’s courses follow the RYA scheme for Dinghy Sailing and Power Boating. Coaching is provided by experienced RYA qualified instructors who have an enthusiastic but relaxed approach.

The club’s practical courses range from dinghy sailing for all ages from 8 upwards to power boat courses starting the age of 12yrs. Training takes place in the sheltered waters of Lymington River and creeks protected by the Lymington Marshes.
