Club Information

The Club is located near Netley Abbey in Southampton, with access to the sheltered waters of the Solent. The location enables easy access from London being one hour from the M3/M25 exchange.

Weston Sailing Club prides itself on being a friendly sailing club arranging social events throughout the year. The clubhouse has spacious changing rooms with hot water available at all times. There is a professionally run galley and a comfortable bar. The clubhouse and large south west facing patio provide an all-year-round view of the racing area, which is directly offshore from the club.

The club benefits from a large compound that comprises a large boat compound for the storage of dinghies and tenders, allowing storage all year round. There is free car parking and three slipways for launching and retrieval.  

The club runs an extensive dinghy racing programme with Over 100 scheduled races per year – weekends and evenings, races being held 11 months of the year. The club runs handicap racing from February through to the end of the year. The club benefits from the tides in the Southampton waters which mean four races can be held most weekends. the club also runs evening races in the summer months. Racing is competitive with some of the best sailors in the country belonging to and regularly sailing at the club. Each year, Weston also hosts many events such as class open meetings and regattas.  The club is extremely proud of its members who have achieved success at national, European & world level racing

WSC arrange sail training courses are arranged on a demand basis for its members. The club aims to support its members in improving members’ skills and knowledge however is not authorised to award RYA certificates and participants must be at least 8 years old at the start of the training.

The training courses usually make use of WSC’s Fevas, Picos, Toppers, Lasers and Visions. Participants are also encouraged to use their own boats. These are all available to hire.

The club aims to have as many members as possible who can undertake the Powerboat Driver duty to hold a RYA Powerboat Level II certificate or equivalent.
